Additional to being an existential problem, during the year 2020, COVID-19 continued to exert tremendous pressure on the global economy. Sadly, many of us have lost colleagues and loved ones to the pandemic. Equally, many businesses have been negatively impacted, leading to governments across the globe intervening in their economies through various stimulus plans.
Through this difficult period, the Board, Management and Staff of the Bank resolutely pursued sustenance of stakeholder value, support for customers, and health and safety leading to positive operational and financial performance. All this was done in pursuit of our mission which is, “to act as a catalyst for the economic development of Zambia.”
Our brand promise “Supporting You. Developing Zambia” was tested and, I am pleased to say, we delivered on the promise. During the year, the Bank extended repayment holidays, prudential reliefs and fee waivers to its customers. Further, the Bank made available ZMW907 million through refinancing and new loan extensions to customers at accommodative rates, unlocking resources that have proved vital for the survival of some of the country’s key industry players, saved thousands of jobs and ensured sustainability of the Bank’s upward trajectory
